Due to Covid-19, new events are place on hold. Here is the list of previous FCP events pre-covid.
February 2020 - After coordinating two Immigration Law Workshops for our PSMC churches at both Full Circle Thrift and Family Mennonite Church, the Full Circle Project held an Immigration Legal Clinic at LA Faith Chapel, which is a Nigerian Mennonite church in South Central LA. We partnered with West Coast MCC’s Immigration & Documentation Program, the Immigration Resource Center of San Gabriel Valley, and the San Bernardino Community Service Center. At the clinic, attorneys and Department of Justice-approved reps provided a free review of materials for 23 families.
January 2020 - The Full Circle Project planned a Climate Change pastor retreat in Echo Park, Los Angeles, in coordination with the Center for Sustainable Climate Solutions. It was the largest of their Climate Change retreats across the country with 28 people in attendance. Participants wrestled with the tension between lament and hope in response to climate change, learned about how climate change will impact Southern California in future decades.
December 2019 - The second annual Southern California Give Thanks worship service was hosted by Pasadena Mennonite Church. Nine of our churches led parts of the worship and almost 100 people were in attendance. A Congolese meal was provided by Wholicare Community Missionary Church.
November 2019 - The Full Circle Project planned a Holiday Card Party at Full Circle Thrift on Black Friday to make holiday cards for people in Arizona detention centers.
November 2019 - The Full Circle Project coordinated with West Coast MCC to provide an immigration workshop at Family Mennonite Church, which is a Belizean Mennonite church in South Central LA.
October 2019 - The Full Circle Project coordinated with Mennonite Church USA and West Coast MCC to lead an Immigration Learning Tour in Tucson, AZ immediately following the CLC (Constituency Leaders Council) meetings in Phoenix, AZ. During the learning tour, Mennonite leaders from across the country were exposed to a spectrum of possible ways to assist migrants, including advocacy for policy change, legal counsel, sanctuary or other safe spaces, forensic anthropology research to match bones found in the desert with missing persons reports, water drops in the desert, clothing donations, and spiritual care through visits to detention centers.
September 2019 - AMBS’s Journey program hosted a learning weekend in Southern California. Journey is a long-distance missional leadership program based credential program of AMBS. Three of our PSMC pastors participate in the Journey program, and many more PSMC members joined them for the weekend of workshops.
September 2019 - The Full Circle Project has supported the Baja Anabaptist Ministry Project, which is the ministry of Mennonite ministers Max and Gloria Villatoro. A few years ago, Max was deported from the US, Last summer his wife Gloria joined him in Ensenada to reunite their family and engage in ministry together.
September 2019 - The Full Circle Project is also involved with new church development. Last September, we started a new Anabaptist fellowship in Bakersfield for Anabaptists there who were craving community. They have been meeting monthly.
July 2019 - Full Circle Thrift was a drop off center for West Coast MCC’s drive to collect Asylum & Immigration Detainee Care Kits.
July 2019 - The Full Circle Project participated in a national Mennonite peace conference at MennoCon19.
April 2019 - Full Circle Thrift celebrated Earth Day with a Mending Cafe on the store's patio to fix items and keep them out of landfills.
March 2019 - Full Circle Thrift hosted an evening with Shane Claiborne and Mike Martin on their nationwide Beating Guns Tour. Shane Claiborne preached inside Full Circle Thrift lamenting US gun violence. Mike Martin manned the blacksmith forge outside the store and helped the audience beat donated guns into useful gardening tools. Several representatives from Moms Demand Action told painful stories of how gun violence has impacted their families.
March 2019 - Gloria James of West Coast MCC led a workshop on immigration law under the new administration at Full Circle Thrift.
February 2019 - Sarah Augustine from the Anabaptist Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery visited Southern California to lead four speaking events at: Full Circle Thrift, ReconciliAsian, Pasadena Mennonite Church, and Pilgrim Place.
February 2019 - The Full Circle Project hosted a Forum on Latino Church Planting at Pasadena Mennonite Church in conjunction with Mennonite Mission Network.
